Surviving Ceres is an open world survival game with an emphasis on crafting and base building. Export rare materials and manufactured goods to earn funding used to unlock new technologies and upgrades. Bring in colonists from earth to work advanced facilities to terraform the planet.

You begin you're journey alone on Ceres with limited items. You will need to explore and gather materials to begin building a viable base.

You're rocket acts as a safe place for you in the early game, but eventually when you have air supplied to you're base and rocket fuel to send the rocket home you can begin to earn funding to unlock new technologies.

Once you have met the requirements for you're base you can begin to call in colonists. Colonists can be put to work on specific tasks as well as facilities related to advanced crafting.

When ready you can use colonists to begin the Terraforming process, which will open new areas of the map to explore with advanced materials to be found. But, be warned this will also trigger aliens to begin to attack your assets
As you progress you will need to go on expeditions to eradicate all the hostile aliens by destroying there queens, and launch nukes at the flying alien nests to make Ceres safe for humanity.

The map will dynamically change as you terraform eventually turning from a cold ball of ice into a tropical paradise.

As you complete milestones and terraforming you will be placed on leader boards. These scores are a combination of how difficult the game settings are combined with how quickly you achieved milestones or total terraforming progress.

My name is Ryan Saunders, I was born in 1979 in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. I went to Mohawk College for computer science software engineering in 1999 - 2001. I have worked in the industry for a while, but not in gaming. Around 2019 I decided I wanted to create solo games free from anyone else's ideas other than the players. This allows me to make games with passion without concern of profits. Please refer to the main page of this website if you would like more detailed insight into my story.

Survivng Ceres Origins

Surviving Ceres was born from my love of survival games, logistics games, city builders, and simulation games. I love survival games, but I wanted to remove tedious gathering by combing logistics and automation. I want the focus to be on base building and crafting. Which is why crafting is done in a simulation style, and importing / exporting rockets from earth is a key part of the game loop.

In order to make the game I wanted. It needs complex crafting and management. To make this a reality I decided to add in a management side with colonists, and make colonists a part of advanced crafting and terraforming.

I included turret defense and expedition aspects to spice up the game loop. But, they aren't aimed at killing you or ruining a play through. They attack specific assets in an effort to slow you down. This leans into the idea of the faster you go the higher you rank on the leader boards.
I went public with a prototype, a tech demo, a steam demo, and a beta test on steam. This has allowed me to work with players at all stages of development, making up for the fact I am a solo dev. I always want the community to be a large part in the games development, and I will always look to reward my most loyal players.
